Centre Manager Updates

Get excited – we're re-opening!

At last, it’s time for you, our loyal members, to get excited.

We are thrilled to announce that we are aiming to re-open the Centre – your Centre – on Tuesday, 9th of June!

The re-opening of gyms is part of Step 2 of the South Australian Roadmap for easing CV-19 restrictions. We know the Government has moved Step 2 forward to the 5th of June, however to ensure the best possible customer experience with all hands on deck we’ve decided to open after the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

The local Clare community, together with that of the wider northern region, deserves congratulations for the effort that has been made to stay isolated. It is this effort that has produced the success we have had in controlling the CV-19 outbreak. It is also this effort that, very soon, will allow you to re-engage with each other and our Centre.

The countdown is on and we’ll be in touch with the plans we’re putting in place for your safety, together with some exciting announcements over the coming weeks. Thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate the resumption of business.

Things are going to be a little different – but it’s still going to be your Y.

Member Newsletter #3 06.05.20

Greetings to our valued Members,

I trust this update finds you and your loved ones safe and well.

Another fortnight of COVID-19 isolation is history and I hope this time is passing quickly and without too much stress. We can’t wait for the go-ahead to re-open the centre for you.

We are now seeing restrictions ease in some parts of the country and South Australian authorities continue to assess how and when we can re-engage with you.

Our members together with the wider Clare community are eagerly awaiting the looming announcement on the easing of restrictions and preparations for a return to normality are well advanced.

In partnership with Council we continue to prepare to re-open and, hand in hand with this, we are developing changes to the Centre experience to ensure the safest possible environment from the start. These changes will include distancing measures, reduced occupancies and strict cleaning protocols.

With a 175-year legacy of supporting Australians through events such as the Spanish Flu, two World Wars, the great Depression and, more recently, the Global Financial Crisis, the YMCA has a unique insight into the impacts of global crises on communities. We want you to know that we’re here and committed to assist you in any way we can.

Finally, everyone at the Centre would like to wish all mums a Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday. Stay safe and please contact us if you need support.

Hello from your friends at The Valleys 22.04.20

To our valued Members,

I hope you and your families are safe and well.

As we continue to navigate our way through the ever changing landscape of the community shutdown due to coronavirus, we are keen to continue to reach out, stay connected and provide you with information on what’s happening around the Centre and the community.

While the majority of the broader Clare community remains in work and operating, the impact of the current COVID-19 rules have had a major effect on the local hospitality, tourism and sports/fitness industries.

Country people are resilient but still need positive social engagement, particularly at this time. I want to encourage every member to stay connected with each other through social media platforms like Zoom, FaceTime or Skype and provide each other with ideas to stay fit and active.

We hope you are still enjoying the free Les Mills on Demand access and continuing, where possible, to stay physically active. We would love you to share your ideas on how to stay active at this time – tag us in on Facebook and let us know what you’re up to.

In the meantime stay safe and please contact us if you need support.

A message from our Centre Manager 10.04.20

To our loyal and valued members,

Firstly, I hope that you and your loved ones are safe, healthy and managing your time at home in the best possible way.

As your local YMCA, we are doing all we can to care for our people, customers and the communities we serve during this difficult time.

The Clare and regional community has been impacted in many ways, with activities we take for granted as normal, including all sport, completely stopped. This, along with the closure of The Valleys Lifestyle Centre and shut down of tourism is having a major impact on social activity.

I want to assure all members that we will reopen and re-engage at the centre as soon as possible.

We need to focus on positive engagement and this is a time when we can reconnect with family and friends through social media. Also talk to older members of the community who grew up without technology and you may find some old ways of staying active and fit without a screen.

Now is also a time to support local business and make sure that vulnerable community members are safe and supported – just a quick ‘are you okay?’ is often all that is required.

The YMCA remains engaged and active with the latest information on the COVID-19 pandemic and I can assure you that we are planning our recovery strategies with a focus on staff, our members and our local community.

While we are unable to provide you with personal service through our centres at this time, we will stay in touch with ways to remain engaged with your health and wellness until we reopen.

We’ll also be bringing news and tips most relevant to you, along with a little inspiration and motivation - things we all need right now.

Please keep up to date with the latest here on our website or on Facebook and don’t forget your exclusive access to Les Mills On-demand classes.

Please contact us if you need any support during this time.
