The Valleys Lifestyle Centre committed to Enable All

The Valleys Lifestyle Centre is set to launch a free 12-week training program called Enable All for people living with a disability, after receiving grant funding from AusActive.

The YMCA developed the program, which will run between August and November and focus on accessible gym usage and education around health and fitness. Each participant will be provided with their own health and fitness program and guided by fully qualified fitness professionals.

The program will run on Wednesdays from 1pm to 2pm, with the first week dedicated to consultation, creating a Personal Training plan, pre-program surveys and all approvals as required.

Clare & Gilbert Valleys YMCA Manager, Ben Whalan, said the initiative is aimed at addressing a need for a program dedicated to a community segment that is too often overlooked in the exercise environment.

“Through the Enable All program, we hope to improve social inclusion, mental health, physical fitness and independence. The aim is to provide people living with a disability with a customised exercise program that will help them develop a continued exercise regime,” he said.

“The grant funding from AusActive has enabled us to expand support across the disability sector in the local community and assist participants to become healthier and happier.”

The program will be free for each participant and include their support workers and/or carers as required. Spaces are limited and people interested can register below.
